Slow Runners.

Pennine Fell Runners have some swift runners, and I guess I’m not one of them. Focusing on cycling has knackered what limited running ability I once had.

I’ve therefore started a splinter group for those whose legs don’t have a long stride or those who just like to have a steady run.

10K in the starlight tonight. Great fun exploring some new footpaths in the dark.

Home Alone.

Ann’s been away on work the last couple of days, so no bike riding for me. Though earlier in the week, I did manage to squeeze in 100k of hilly miles. So I don’t feel too lazy.

Not exactly home alone though, as I do have the kids. They made me make popcorn today, which fortunately they allowed me to share. In fact I’m eating the last of it as I type this with one non sticky hand. Yum yum.

Nothing much else to report except I’ve been drinking beer, watching telly and reading through a pile of old Singletrack magazines which a STW forum user kindly gave me.

Looking forward to the Worlds at Manchester Velodrome on Sunday.

3 Person Sofa Painted Effect.

Spin spin Spin.

The weather was rubbish a couple of weeks ago on Tuesday morning, when I usually go out on the road with Lisa.

My attempts to swerve our appointment resulted in Lisa organising us a session at our local gym to do a spinning session.

Sort of like a Turbo training session with mates, and someone else who tells you to stop slacking.

Here’s the beast.

Schwinn Spinning Bike

A mere 45 minutes pedalling. Surely that’ll not do much good? How wrong could I be.

The session starts off easy enough, then the tempo rises, and the resistance on the flywheel too. Several different sets of reps follow, each focusing on different leg muscles.

Some 40 minutes in we are told to increase the load until we can just pedal,…..and then sprint, then slow, sprint etc. 45 minutes and my legs were battered.

Off tomorrow for our 3rd session.

Already I’ve noticed an improvement in my speed on and off road.

Woot.
