A big week on the bike then “3 days in May”

Out with some clients this week for a couple of days riding / tuition , fantastic fun, great weather and great company too.

Lots of training miles too 3 decent road rides, and a couple of big mountain bike rides.

A good 250 miles in the bank.

And then………

“3 days in May” 3 fell races on consecutive days in Hayfield.

Rich running

Friday evening - The May Queen Race a mere 3 miles skip up and down Lantern Pike in a fell race style.

Saturday morning - Mount Famine a short 5 miles and 1700′ clawing ones way up and down steep hillsides.

Sunday morning, absolutely ruined, having to walk backwards down the stairs because “cyclists can’t run down hills fast”

I phoned James suggesting a steady ride before the final race. He had no sympathy.

Over Chunal, Moorfield, Snake Pass, Bamford, Hope, Winnats etc.

So nearly 300 miles.

Too knackered to run the last race though.

The Roych Hill Climb v. 1.

Rich over at the Hayfield Hub organised a dry run on Wednesday evening for the proposed time trial on June 27th from the river at the Roych up to the high point below the summit of South Head.

Roych Hill Climb

2 Kilometres and a smidge over 150 metres of climbing.  Steep loose, then fast, then rocky at the top.

The fastest man made it on his cyclo-cross bike in a mere 9:27. Results here.

I’ll have to do some practicing to get close to that.

Thanks to  Rich and Rob for doing the timing.

All welcome for the main event on June the 27th
